Introducing the youngest pup at Ashley Heath! Bear is an American Akita who recently came into our care due to no fault of his own.
At only 7 months old he is still learning to understand and explore the world, it is unlikely Baby Bear (lovingly nicknamed by the kennel team) has seen much of life and can sometimes be anxious around new situations. His ideal home would be with a calm and predictable family, happy to take things slow. True to his Akita self, Bear enjoys affection on his terms and prefers a good play with some toys. Whilst in our care we have found Bear to be quite dog social and can often be found having a walk with a fellow canine friend. It was mentioned from his previous home that Bear really enjoys spending time outside, we are therefore looking for a home where Bear will have access to his own well fenced garden. He has not been used to being left so will need to be well settled into his new routine before any training to be to spend time alone begins.
Unfortunately Bear would be unsuccessful living with a cat but would be successful living with dog savvy children aged teenage +.
Bear is proving to be super smart and has been impressing all his carers during his training sessions where he is currently learning lots of basic obedience skills. Ongoing training to ensure Bear continues to be the best behaved boy will need to be continued once adopted.
While he may only be young Bear is already quite the size with some growing still left to do, his new family need to be prepared he will be a large sized dog.
Previous experience or knowledge of the breed would be highly beneficial.
Have you got a large sized space in your cosy home? Bear would love to join you!
