About Me

Breed: Lurcher crossbreed
Colour: Black
Age: 5 Years (approx)
Ref: ANI03651

Meet Ellie, our very sensitive lurcher. Like many of our animals she has had a rocky path so far with an unsettled and turbulent past. She was returned to us after not getting along with another dog in the family.
Ellie is a clever girl who enjoys learning new things.
She is playful with toys, loving a soft squeaky toy the most whilst also enjoying playing catch and tug.
She is currently doing very well learning to wear a muzzle and learning a touch target for fun.
Ellie likes human contact and company and will instigate affection when she wants it.
She is very tactile but she does have some worries around types of handling. She needs an understanding and sensitive approach to grow confidence and trust.
Her new home will be a calm and predictable adult only environment with people that are happy to allow her her own safe space. Ellie can have a startle response when surprised so will need a home where she can have a couple of safe spaces in which she will not be disturbed and feel secure.
She finds kennel life quite stressful and has been spending time at home with a member of staff. They report her to be a good house guest who’s very clean and tidy. However, Ellie does not like to be left home alone. She is comfortable for you to be in a different room of the home and happy to sleep separately but gets distressed if left alone in the home. Ideally, she is best suited in an adult only home where there is more than one adult so that she does not need to be left. It may be something that she will always suffer from.
Ellie does not wish to associate with or make friends with other dogs. She may pass and ignore them, choosimg to avoid eye contact as well as direct contact with other dogs, does not tolerate other dogs invading her personal space so is looking for someone that is willing to respect this and advocate for her.
Walks nicely on the lead but will suddenly pull if a squirrel or cat crosses her path. As Ellie will need to be kept on lead when on her adventures, we are therefore looking for a home where she will have access to her own secure garden to enjoy some off lead time as well as peaceful sleeps in the warm sun.
