Meet our cheeky and very inquisitive Maisie. Maisie is a bundle of fun who loves to play and explore. Maisie came into our care with a group of cats who were under socialised and missed out on key human interaction at an early age. With the help of the staff at the centre and Maisie moving into a foster home she has shown what a real personality she is.
Maisie has a lovely bond with her fosterer which has helped her learn to start to trust people and enjoy companionship. Due to Maisie’s eagerness to play this was a great way to help Maisie build that bond and show Maisie that people are actually ok.
Maisie has shown what a sweet girl she really is and spends a lot of time purring with contentment. Maisie does a little body bump on your arm when she truly trusts you. Maisie can be startled at times at new situations or noises but she has learnt to find her safe place and then come back out purring and chatting once she’s settled herself. The trick is to let her go into that safe space and let her decide when it’s ready to come out and play again.
Maisie is a cat who will need a patient adopter who will give her the space and time to get used to her new home and adopter but this will be well worth any wait. Maisie shows her affectionate side in her own way and likes to sit with her fosterer on the sofa and have a snooze, purr and a chat and even watch the TV.
Maisie will instigate light touch when she has built a bond however she is hand shy and is learning to show her affectionate side her own way. Her adopter will need to learn Maisie’s body language which shows when she feels comfortable with interaction and allow her to be the one to lead this. Initially in a new home Maisie is likely to be a hands off cat until she builds that bond with her adopter, but she has proven that in a quiet home with time and patience that she loves company and really benefits from it, as will you.
Due to Maisie still being young she is very energetic and loves to zoom around the room playing with her toys. She is often on the windowsill looking out at her surroundings. Maisie loves to be up high to survey what’s going on, and opportunities to do this in her own home would be beneficial; a tall cat tree or space on top of a wardrobe would be perfect for her. Maisie’s inquisitiveness can be seen when she is given puzzle feeders, and she’s a fast learner who is always keen to work out how to get that tasty treat or some food.
Maisie would need a room of her own initially so that she can acclimatise to her new home, with all her familiar scents. She will need areas to hide, rest and play.
Maisie will need an adult only home, and due to Maisie’s shyness we are looking for a home without dogs.
Maisie has also shown signs in the cattery that she would benefit from a home with a confident cat friend that she can learn from. Equally if the right home was found Maisie could be the only cat in the home. If Maisie did live with another cat, there would need to be a slow introduction process, and advice on introducing Maisie to her new cat friend will be given as part of the adoption process.
