Please take the time to read about Rex. We are looking for a 'foster-to-adopt' home for this lovely lad as he is struggling in kennels and comes from a difficult background.Â
It is likely that Rex has actually spent most of his life in a kennels-type situation and when he was rescued by the RSPCA he was underweight and had dirty, matted fur. It seems that Rex struggles with the confinement of kennels - he is a Spaniel after all! He has been bred to be out in the open fields, sniffing and searching alongside his loving owners, not cooped up in a cage. Rex copes with this confinement and frustration by 'spinning'. He does this when he is most frustrated - mainly when his bonded handlers pass his kennel and he is unable to get to them. This is heart-breaking for all involved. When away from the kennels environment, Rex does not show this intense behaviour and likes a gentle 'sniffy walk' and calm cuddles in our home room.Â
We are looking for an adult, Spaniel-experienced home for Rex with the time and resources to ensure he gets the home and life that he's always deserved. While Rex can socialise with calm dogs - particularly females (what a ladies man!) - he will need to be the only dog in his new home to help him settle in a steady, predictable environment.Â
Rex will go into any new home initially as a foster to ensure we can provide any support he may need as he settles in. During this period, all supplies and veterinary care will be provided by the RSPCA. At a pre-determined point once he is settled in to the new home, Rex could then be fully adopted.
If you are able to work with us to provide Rex with his happy-ever-after home, then please. please get in touch.
