Bear is a beautiful Shar Pei with a huge heart and a story that sadly hasn’t been as kind to him as he deserves.
Bear was left all alone in his previous home. He waited patiently, hoping and believing that his family would return for him, but sadly, they never did. We can only imagine how confusing and heartbreaking this must have been for him and Bear is still left wondering where his family went and why they didn’t take him with them.
When Bear arrived into our care, he was suffering with some very sore eyes. Thankfully, he has since undergone surgery and is now feeling so much more comfortable. He also arrived with very itchy skin, which required treatment and a special diet. Thankfully, his skin has now settled beautifully, but his new family will need to continue with his dietary and care requirements to make sure he stays happy, healthy and in tip top condition.
Despite everything Bear has been through, this delightful boy has remained an absolute sweetheart. He is incredibly trusting of people and has been a dream throughout all of his treatments and veterinary care. His personality really shines through, and you simply cannot miss that wonderful, floofy tail which never seems to stop wagging!
Bear appears to have already had some training and does his very best to keep his kennel clean, which is a lovely indication that he has some good foundations for his new family to continue building on. He is a nice, steady boy who will hopefully thrive with someone willing to give him the time, patience and love he deserves.
Bear may potentially be able to live with another dog, subject to successful meets and greets here at the centre. A home with older children could also be considered, depending on how those introductions go.
As with any breed, we strongly advise potential new owners to research the Shar Pei breed thoroughly before welcoming Bear into their home. It is particularly important to understand the breed's specific needs and the medical conditions they can be prone to, as well as the ongoing care that may be required to keep them happy and healthy. Bear's future family will need to be prepared to continue with his current dietary and healthcare requirements and work closely with their vet to ensure he remains in the best possible condition.
After such a difficult start, Bear is now ready for the chapter he has always deserved..... a loving forever home where he will never again be left wondering whether his family is coming back.
If you think you could be the person to give this gorgeous, gentle boy the happy ending he deserves, Bear would love to meet you. ❤️
