Meet Pepper, a beautiful young girl who is only just over 18 months old and already showing what an incredible dog she is becoming.
When Pepper first arrived with us, she was heartbreakingly emaciated and clearly hadn’t had the care or nutrition she deserved. Unsurprisingly, food is still very important to her, and she can be quite demanding around it but she is beginning to learn that she will never have to go hungry again. She is making lovely progress with her manners and has responded really well to training and guidance.
Pepper has shown herself to be an intelligent, eager-to-please girl who is growing in confidence every day. She has coped brilliantly with new situations and experiences, and it has been wonderful to watch her personality shine through. Alongside her playful and enthusiastic side, Pepper is also incredibly loving and sensitive, forming strong bonds with the people she trusts.
Pepper could live with sensible, confident teenagers who are comfortable around large dogs and understand that she is still learning. A home with previous experience of caring for an underweight or previously starved dog would be especially beneficial, as her adopters will need patience and understanding while she continues building a healthy relationship with food.
She may be able to live with another dog pending successful meets at the centre.
Pepper is a young dog with so much potential and so much love to give. With continued kindness, structure, and reassurance, she is going to make an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion.
