Meet our big furball Wukkie! Recovered from a multi-dog household, Wukkie has not had the easiest start in life and is suspected to have spent much of his time in a crate. As expected, that does mean the world is an exciting place. Having spent some time in our care we are now looking for an experienced adopter to show him all that has been missed.
Wukkie is a very loving dog that certainly has a lot of fun character to bring into a home. In the short time he has been with us he has proven to be a smart cookie and knows “sit” and “paw” amongst other things. However, there are still elements to be learned. Lead walking is still a new concept for him and with a stimulating environment around him he is keen to explore, which can result in some pulling and reduced focus at times. Given a gradual introduction to outside spaces and reinforcing engagement with high value rewards Wukkie has made positive progress in this area. Being proactive with training may be beneficial to support Wukkie’s transition into the home environment over his first weeks.
Wukkie has also shown nice interactions with female dogs whilst in our care. Though he may initially be bouncy during an introductory walk, he does settle down and once off-lead he has proven to be well-rounded with his interactions. He enjoys a mix of chase play and idle interactions, but also offers his friends space and time to explore what is around them. We would advise introductions are managed once in the home and Wukkie is partnered with dogs of a similar size when playing.
Due to his past, applicants should be understanding that it may take a little time for Wukkie to be settled in the home. As such, we are looking for a quieter, rural or semi-rural setting. But given time, we know he will make a wonderful companion to an active home. Being a larger breed, access to a secure garden space would be very beneficial for Wukkie to burn off any excess energies. We may consider applicants with older children 16+ and those with female dogs that are well socialised and experienced with puppy-like behaviours.
The adoption fee for this dog is £200
