Dolly is a beautiful 2-year-old female domestic shorthair with a striking black and white coat. Her personality is gentle, though she can be a little cautious.
Dolly arrived in our care deeply distressed, scared, and completely shut down. The world, and particularly people, was a frightening concept to her. She has made remarkable progress, but she still has a significant journey ahead in learning to trust. We are incredibly proud to report that with the dedicated help of her carers, she has begun to accept tasty treats—a monumental step!—but only from those individuals she has formed a strong bond with and feels entirely safe around. Her new family must understand that patience, slow introduction, and respect for her boundaries will be paramount to her continued emotional recovery.
Dolly would thrive in a calm, predictable environment. We believe she could potentially live with older, cat-savvy teenagers (16+) who have previous experience understanding and respecting a cat's need for space. A quieter adult-only home would also be highly suitable.
With a careful, gradual introduction, Dolly could potentially share her home with another resident cat. However, we are certain that a dog would be too overwhelming and stressful for her delicate nature, and we will only consider homes without dogs.
Dolly will need a secure, fully indoor settling-in period. Since we have no history of her experiences with the outside world, this is crucial for her safety and to allow her to fully decompress and feel secure in her new territory. Depending on how quickly she settles and her own expressed desires, she may eventually wish to explore the outdoors. If she shows a strong, consistent interest in going outside, her new family must be prepared to give her safe outdoor access, recognizing that this is in her best interest for a truly enriched life. Any outdoor access would require a safe, non-busy location.
