About Me

Breed: Domestic Shorthair crossbreed
Colour: Black
Age: 2 Years (approx)
Ref: ANI02962

This beautiful young lady is Dottie, a 2-year-old female domestic shorthair with an black and white coat. She is currently searching for a very specific, patient, and understanding forever home where she can continue to blossom.
Dottie arrived in our care in a state of extreme fear and was initially very "shut down." It was clear she found the new environment and interactions overwhelming. Progress has been made, but she still has a significant journey ahead in learning to trust people. Her new adopter must be prepared for a long acclimatisation period, offering her the space and time she needs to feel safe and secure. She is not a cat who will immediately seek out cuddles, but with consistency, calm, and positive reinforcement, we are confident she will eventually form a deep bond with her family.
Due to her sensitive nature and nervousness, Dottie would be best suited to a quiet, predictable adult-only home, or one with very understanding, older teenager children (aged 16+). These teenagers must have previous experience interacting with cats and be able to respect her boundaries, allowing her to approach them on her own terms. A calm environment without excessive noise or busy foot traffic is essential for her well-being.
Dottie would initially need to remain strictly indoors until she has fully settled into her new environment—a process that could take several months. We have no clear history on her previous experiences with the outside world. Once she is completely secure and confident within the home, and if she shows a strong, undeniable desire to explore, her new family would need to be open to the possibility of offering her outdoor access.
Dottie might be able to live with another calm, established cat, provided the introduction is handled correctly, slowly, and expertly managed over several weeks. However, we believe a dog would be far too stressful and overwhelming for Dottie, and therefore, a dog-free home is essential.
