Meet the beautiful Mitzy, a one-year-old female black domestic shorthair who is currently looking for her forever home. Mitzy arrived in our care as part of a multi-cat household, and initially, the change in environment left her understandably feeling overwhelmed and timid.
When she first joined us, Mitzy was very shut down and scared, often seeking out quiet corners to retreat to. However, with patience, gentle handling, and a supportive environment, her true personality has begun to blossom beautifully. She is, at her heart, a profoundly sweet and deeply affectionate girl. She absolutely thrives on comfort and security, and one of her favourite pastimes is "making biscuits"—kneading her paws contentedly on a soft blanket while soaking up attention.
Due to her initially timid nature and the time it takes for her to build trust, Mitzy would be best suited to a calm, predictable home environment. We are looking for adopters with experience with cats, who understand the need to give her space and time to settle in at her own pace. A home with older, considerate children (aged 11 and over) would be ideal, as they are more likely to understand and respect her need for quiet boundaries.
Mitzy will require a period of remaining strictly indoors when she first arrives at her new home to ensure she feels secure and fully settles in. Her adopter must be committed to this initial indoor period for her safety and well-being. However, we also recognise the importance of choice for a cat, and should Mitzy begin to show a strong, undeniable desire for outdoor access once she is fully settled and confident in her surroundings, this need must be acknowledged and safely provided for to meet her long-term welfare requirements.
We believe that Mitzy has the potential to live harmoniously with another cat, provided the introduction is done correctly, slowly, and thoughtfully. A careful, phased approach is essential for any potential feline housemate. However, given her sensitive and cautious disposition, we strongly feel that a dog would be too overwhelming and stressful for her, and she needs a home free of canine companions.
