About Me

Breed: Domestic Shorthair crossbreed
Colour: Tabby
Age: 6-12 Months
Ref: ANI03735

This beautiful girl is Monica, a white and tabby domestic shorthair cat, around 9 months old. She arrived into our care from a multi-cat household and shares a deep connection with Penelope, so we are committed to finding a loving home where they can remain together.

When they first arrived at the shelter, both Penelope and Monica were incredibly nervous, exhibiting very "shut down" and scared behaviour, which is understandable given their change in circumstances. However, over the time they have spent in our nurturing environment, their personalities have begun to blossom. They have grown into sweet, affectionate, and engaging girls. Penelope is the more confident and outgoing of the two, often taking the lead, while Monica is a little more reserved but just as loving once she feels safe.

Due to the initial timidity they displayed, we believe they would thrive best in a calm, predictable home environment. We are looking for adopters with experience with cats and feel they would be best suited to a household with older children (aged 11+). Children of this age are generally able to understand and respect a cat's boundaries, allowing Penelope and Monica to settle in at their own pace.

Their initial transition period will be crucial, and as such, they will need to remain strictly indoors until they have completely settled and built confidence in their new surroundings. However, their adopters must be aware that if, once settled, Penelope and Monica show a strong, undeniable desire for outdoor access—such as frequently scratching at doors or windows—this need must be respected and safely provided for their long-term welfare and happiness. Any outdoor access should be managed to ensure their safety.

Regarding other pets, Penelope and Monica have the potential to live with another resident cat, provided a slow, careful, and correct introduction process is followed. We feel, however, that a dog would be too overwhelming for them and would likely set back the progress they have made in building their confidence.
