Velka arrived at the centre after becoming stressed around the young children in the home.
The cattery environment was overwhelming for her at first, and she spent her initial weeks keeping herself hidden, only venturing out in the evenings when things were quiet.
To help ease her anxiety, Velka was started on Gabapentin. This will need to be continued in the home, with the hope that once she’s fully settled, she may be weaned off it.
Combined with time and patience, Velka has started to seek out small fusses from her human friends and is spending more time outside of her hiding spots. While she’s still a shy girl, we can see her confidence growing.
Velka is looking for calm, patient adopters who will give her the space she needs to adjust at her own pace and in time, we're sure her affectionate side will soon show.
