Bruce is a handsome young male Labrador. After a rocky start in life, he arrived at West Hatch seeking the structure and support he’d missed. While his journey has had its hurdles but over his time with us he has made incredible strides. Bruce can sometimes get a bit overwhelmed when life gets exciting or stressful initially showing some mounting, jumping up and mouthing. By providing him with a predictable routine and plenty of positive outlets like scent games, destruction boxes, and his favorite stuffed Kong, he is blossoming into a truly wonderful companion. He can still be suddenly spooked by sudden noises such as the wind in bushes or objects moving.
Bruce is a work in progress, but for the right guardians, he will be the most loyal and loving companion you could ever wish for. If you have the patience and experience to help him reach his full potential, we would love to hear from you!
Bruce will need;
Experienced Guardians: Someone who understands the complexities of rescue dogs and won't be deterred by a bit of "mouthiness" or jumping when he gets over-excited.
A Quiet Haven: An adult-only home where he can be the only pet and the centre of your world.
Plenty of Company: Owners who are home most of the time to continue his training and provide emotional support.
Since our behavior team wants to support you through the transition, it’s best if you live within reasonable driving distance to visit Bruce several times and participate in behaviour sessions.

If you are interested in adopting an animal from West Hatch RSPCA, please have a look on "ÅÝܽÊÓƵ" in the first instance. Once you have seen an animal you are interested in, you can apply easily online via the link to a google form at the bottom of their profile. Once we receive the application, it will be reviewed by a member of staff, and if you are a suitable match we will then make contact to discuss the animal further. This will be either by email initially or by phone. We will then ask you to email us photos of your home and garden, as well as ID. This continues to replace the homevisit that we would have carried out pre-covid. We can then make an appointment for you to come to the centre to meet your chosen animal before you commit to adoption.
