About Me

Breed: Husky (Siberian)
Colour: Grey
Age: 1 Year (approx)
Ref: ANI02305

Meet Siberian Husky Jack, a sweet and sensitive one-year-old Husky who is now ready to find his forever home. Beneath his playful personality is a bright and affectionate young dog who, with the right person, has so much potential to flourish.
Jack is looking for an adult-only home with no other pets, ideally with someone who has experience of Northern breeds and understands the needs and traits commonly associated with Huskies. He is an energetic and intelligent boy who thrives on interaction and would love a home where his enthusiasm can be channelled into positive training, enrichment, and fun activities that keep both his mind and body active. Any potential adopters would need to live reasonably close 1-2 hours, to the centre to allow him a few visits for transition into a new home.
Sadly, Jack has had a very difficult start in life. He came into our care as part of a prosecution case after suffering physical abuse at the hands of his previous owner, and he has spent much of his young life in kennels. As a result, he can sometimes feel overwhelmed in unfamiliar situations or around people he does not yet fully trust. When anxious, Jack may become excitable or “goofy,” which is often his way of coping with uncertainty.
Because of this,Jack needs a particularly patient, understanding adopter who can recognise the signals he is displaying when he is overwhelmed, and who is able to give him the time and reassurance he needs to build confidence at his own pace, whilst allowing his fun side to shine through without fear of being punished. He has missed out on many important life experiences during his early development, so his new family must be prepared to gently introduce him to the world using calm, reward-based training and plenty of encouragement.
Jack will initially need someone who can be with him most of the time while he settles in. Any time spent alone will need to be introduced gradually and carefully, always at a pace he is comfortable with. A secure private garden is also essential for him.
Although Jack tries very hard to keep his kennel clean, he is likely to need some refresher housetraining once he is in a home environment. This should be approached positively and with patience.
For the right person, Jack will make an incredibly rewarding companion. He is affectionate, funny, entertaining, and full of character, and once he feels safe, his wonderful personality truly shines through. If you have the time, commitment, and understanding to help this special boy continue rebuilding his confidence, Jack could be the perfect addition to your life.

If you are interested in adopting an animal from West Hatch RSPCA, please have a look on "ܽƵ" in the first instance. Once you have seen an animal you are interested in, you can apply easily online via the link to a google form at the bottom of their profile. Once we receive the application, it will be reviewed by a member of staff, and if you are a suitable match we will then make contact to discuss the animal further. This will be either by email initially or by phone. We will then ask you to email us photos of your home and garden, as well as ID. This continues to replace the homevisit that we would have carried out pre-covid. We can then make an appointment for you to come to the centre to meet your chosen animal before you commit to adoption.
