About Me

Breed: Patterdale Terrier (Fell Terrier) crossbreed
Colour: Black
Age: 1 Year (approx)
Ref: ANI03948

Meet Mr Darcy, a young Patterdale Terrier cross who is full of beans and bursting with affection. This lively little character brings plenty of energy and fun, but beneath his excitable exterior is a truly loving boy who thrives on attention and enjoys lots of fuss from his people.

Mr Darcy is a big fan of human companionship and forms strong, loyal bonds. While he can be a little unsure around new people at first, with a bit of patience and time he builds trust and friendship

Mr Darcy can find the presence of others dogs overwhelming , especially when passing them on walks or if they approach him too quickly. In these situations, he may become vocal as he processes his fustration and excitement. Due to this, we feel Mr Darcy should be the only pet in the home.

Mr Darcy is exceptionally clever and has picked up training very quickly while in our care. He has made fantastic progress with his loose lead walking, offers lovely eye contact, and is learning to focus on his handler when walking past distractions such as other dogs. He is also currently being muzzle trained to help ensure safety while out and about. We are looking for a family who are keen to continue his training, as this will be ongoing.

He travels well in the car, so taking him on adventures to quieter locations that he can enjoy, should not be too difficult. Darcy is not housetrained, so will therefore need to be treated as if he is a puppy learning from scratch. We also do not know if he has ever been left alone in a home, so any time left will need to be introduced gradually, and at a pace he can cope with.
Due to his sensitivity and training needs, Mr Darcy would be best suited to an adult only home with owners who can continue his training and provide structure and patience. In return, you’ll gain an intelligent, and affectionate companion.

Can you give Mr. Darcy the loving, stable home he's been waiting for?

If you are interested in adopting an animal from West Hatch RSPCA, please have a look on "ÅÝܽÊÓƵ" in the first instance. Once you have seen an animal you are interested in, you can apply easily online via the link to a google form at the bottom of their profile. Once we receive the application, it will be reviewed by a member of staff, and if you are a suitable match we will then make contact to discuss the animal further. This will be either by email initially or by phone. We will then ask you to email us photos of your home and garden, as well as ID. This continues to replace the homevisit that we would have carried out pre-covid. We can then make an appointment for you to come to the centre to meet your chosen animal before you commit to adoption.
