About Me

Breed: Lurcher crossbreed
Colour: Black
Age: 5 Years (approx)
Ref: ANI03432

Meet Quincy, he will solve all your woes.
This amazing dog has a lot of love to give and wants nothing more than to be small enough to fit on your lap - he tries and tries again. Like many of our animals his start in life was a rocky one but that has not negatively impacted him at all. He is a wonderfully social boy with a well rounded nature and heart of gold. Always pleased to see you with a full body of wiggles.

Quincy didn't know many basic life skills when he came to us but is showing some definite improvement with his foundation training and enjoys learning and interacting with any and all his handlers. He is hoping to find a new home who would be keen to continue his training journey and grow with him along the way. He loves to be involved! His lead walking skills are still a work in progress and due to being very strong he is looking for a family who will be physically able to handle him at his strongest.

Quincy is massively sociable with people and seems to love everyone. He is enthusiastic to greet dogs and can strain towards them but once he has met he doesn't want much more from them. He may sometimes give a little warning with dogs he isn't sure of so still needs some more confidence and skill in this area. He would need to be the only pet in the household.
Quincy has a chase / prey drive and this is something that will likely be present for the rest of his life, but that's not to say improvements can't be made with the right approach and training. He will need to be on a lead when out and about unless in a private and secure fenced area. Ideally the locations would not be very built up with access to spacious walking locations. His new home will need a large enclosed garden with 6ft high fences to give him space to let off steam, learn, sniff and have his freedom or chill out in the open air on nice days.

He is mostly clean in the home but may need a little help with toileting etiquette when first settling in. New sounds can worry him a little but with some top tips he overcomes this easily. This is likely due to limited `normal' life experiences in his past. Quincy is looking for a confident home with older children as he can be quite a lump and not know his own weight.
He would love to find a home where he can be showered with affection and give the same back in return; go on adventures, cuddle up and snooze with his new humans when they relax. He is a happy and extremely loveable and rather handsome chap.
If you have the space in your home and heart for a new companion, Quincy would love to meet you and see if he would be a perfect match.

If you are interested in adopting an animal from West Hatch RSPCA, please have a look on "ÅÝܽÊÓƵ" in the first instance. Once you have seen an animal you are interested in, you can apply easily online via the link to a google form at the bottom of their profile. Once we receive the application, it will be reviewed by a member of staff, and if you are a suitable match we will then make contact to discuss the animal further. This will be either by email initially or by phone. We will then ask you to email us photos of your home and garden, as well as ID. This continues to replace the homevisit that we would have carried out pre-covid. We can then make an appointment for you to come to the centre to meet your chosen animal before you commit to adoption.
