About Me

Breed: Inuit
Colour: Grey
Age: 2 Years (approx)
Ref: ANI02234

Roko is a young male Northern Inuit cross with an incredibly affectionate heart, currently seeking a very special home. He was rescued from highly restrictive conditions, living with 27 other dogs in cramped quarters. This background means Roko arrived at the kennels worried by confined spaces, handling, and unfamiliar with leads and harnesses.
Despite his past, Roko has made wonderful progress thanks to patient handling from his dedicated staff. He is now enjoying his walks and continues to build strong bonds with his main handlers, whom he is incredibly affectionate and trusting with. His key needs remain patience and consistency as he builds these relationships.

Roko’s journey requires a unique approach to his home transition. At our centre, Roko finds comfort and security in access to outdoor areas and will often choose to sleep outside in the cooler environment. He is gradually learning that buildings are safe, especially when accompanied by a friendly dog or trusted person but owners must be happy to facilitate a slow, compassionate transition into the home environment over time, allowing Roko to set the pace. This means that a highly secure and private outdoor space is therefore essential as his primary safe haven during the early stages.

He is looking for owners with experience, ideally with Northern breeds and a home in a quiet, rural location. The presence of a sensible resident dog is highly recommended, as Roko gains confidence and support from other dog; they will serve as a wonderful role model and playmate. His education is ongoing, and future owners will need to continue building up toilet training and building his confidence around car travel.

Prospective owners must be prepared for a number of visits to West Hatch to establish a bond with Roko, as this is crucial for his well-being. The behaviour team will provide full support to ensure his transition is as smooth as possible.

If you are interested in adopting an animal from West Hatch RSPCA, please have a look on "ÅÝܽÊÓƵ" in the first instance. Once you have seen an animal you are interested in, you can apply easily online via the link to a google form at the bottom of their profile. Once we receive the application, it will be reviewed by a member of staff, and if you are a suitable match we will then make contact to discuss the animal further. This will be either by email initially or by phone. We will then ask you to email us photos of your home and garden, as well as ID. This continues to replace the homevisit that we would have carried out pre-covid. We can then make an appointment for you to come to the centre to meet your chosen animal before you commit to adoption.
