Summer is a sweet, older Staffie cross Terrier who has a lot of love to give. She adores people and quickly forms strong, loyal bonds with her handlers.
Summer is very sociable with other dogs and will happily say hello to anyone; she does, however, prefer a more relaxed, older canine companion. Having spent time in a foster home, Summer has shown how much she enjoys home comforts especially snoozing on the sofa and receiving cuddles.
Summer does have a few challenges that will require support in her new home. She displays separation-related behaviours, which can cause her to become anxious when left alone, even for short periods. Her adopters will need to be prepared to work through this gradually and patiently, helping her feel safe and secure over time. She also becomes very anxious during car journeys. We have been trying different methods to see what suits her best and have found that she is most comfortable travelling in a crate. However, she will still need continued support with this, and it is possible she may never feel fully comfortable travelling, so adopters should bear this in mind.
Summer has also needed some guidance with house training in her foster home and will need support to continue this in her new home. Despite these hurdles, she is an incredibly clever and capable dog who responds well to the right guidance.
We believe Summer would thrive with a patient, warm-hearted owner who can help her build confidence at her own pace. She could live with teenage children and another dog, provided it is the right match.If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate companion and can provide the time and understanding Summer needs, she will reward you with endless love.
