What have we changed?
We're always looking to improve ÅÝܽÊÓƵ here in England and Wales, but also overseas, in the European Union (EU) and the rest of the world. This is achieved through our campaigns, education and advisory work.
Recent progress for ÅÝܽÊÓƵ
We've been involved in the passing of most ÅÝܽÊÓƵ law in England and Wales since we were set up in 1824. Here is just a short list of some of the more recent pieces of legislation we have been involved in:
Always improving legislation
As you can see we are active in pushing for improvements to ÅÝܽÊÓƵ law not just with civil servants, but also Ministers, MPs and peers in Westminster, and with the Welsh Government and Assembly Members, as well as the European Commission, MEPs and the UK's Representation in Brussels.
We work closely with governments, institutions and politicians at all levels and of all political persuasions to secure improvements to ÅÝܽÊÓƵ. We also work closely with our supporters and encourage them to let their elected representatives know their thoughts on some of these key issues.
Groundbreaking ÅÝܽÊÓƵ law
One of the most groundbreaking pieces of legislation in the RSPCA's history was the Animal Welfare Act 2006 which brought together and updated all the main legislation concerning domestic animals since the 1911 Protection of Animals Act.
