A better future for animals in Wales
Following the historic Senedd elections in May 2026, we now have new opportunities to turn empathy into policy.
From protecting Wales’ pets to consigning cruel farming practices to the history books, vital ÅÝܽÊÓƵ issues need your help.
We’ve outlined a set of key ÅÝܽÊÓƵ priorities for Wales in an open letter, which we’ll hand in to the Senedd later this year. From the moment the new Welsh leaders embark on this new opportunity for the country and all creatures that call it home, they’ll be hearing from you, and from us.
Wales' new leaders need to hear from you
Say hello to the new Welsh Government and Senedd as they take the reigns. With this seismic shift in Welsh politics, we’ve got a chance to make Wales kinder for animals – but we need you to use your voice to help drive change. Tell our new leaders how much you care about animal rights in Wales, so they can truly represent your priorities.
Help tackle issues such as responsible pet rescue, ownership and breeding, horse tethering, the protection of wildlife and archaic farming practices such as the use of cages.
Sign the open letter now.
Actions speak louder than words
As a nation of animal lovers, Wales has a history of protecting animals, but there’s still so much more to be done. For example, a kinder Wales could see statutory powers for our fearless inspectors and frontline workers, helping to rescue, rehome and rehabilitate more animals than ever before.
Sign our open letter to convince Wales’ leaders that animals must stay on the agenda, and that we must turn promises and political potential into action for every kind of animal.
We have a huge, promising opportunity to improve the lives of countless animals across Wales. It’s time to take action and protect the animals that shape our lives.
According to our most recent Kindness Index, 82% of people in Wales believe that ÅÝܽÊÓƵ should be protected by governments through legislation.
