Meet Nelson, his rescuer and his new family

He鈥檚 like a different dog now 鈥� so confident, and he seems so happy.

In our care at last

Nelson needed gentle encouragement to come through our animal hospital doors. But he was safe, and with your support his recovery could begin.

Finding his feet

Nelson blossomed in our care. He got on well with other dogs and we began to see the loving, confident boy he was always meant to be.

Together, we rescued Nelson

Called to help

We received reports of a dog being harmed by his owner. Inspector Shahnaz Ahmad went to the home with police, and when the door opened, Nelson was at the back of the hallway 鈥� shaking and clearly terrified. Police took him into their possession and passed him into our care.

In our vets鈥� hands

Shahnaz took Nelson straight to RSPCA Finsbury Park Animal Hospital. He was so nervous, he was wary of entering the hospital, but our team took their time with him and slowly helped him inside. Our vets examined him and X-rays revealed he had fractures to his skull and cheekbone, as well as damage to his spine. With your support, we could give him pain relief for his injuries and medication to help keep him feel calm.

On the road to his forever home

Growing stronger

Nelson鈥檚 wounds healed and his confidence slowly grew. When he was well enough, he moved to RSPCA Essex South, Southend & District Branch. 鈥淗e had some anxiety after everything he鈥檇 been through,鈥� said Mette Summers at the branch. 鈥淏ut he was such a lovely boy and already coming on so well.鈥�

Going home

Thanks to your regular gift, Nelson is now in his forever home with Donna and her son Ben. He has a loving family, plenty of toys, and a big garden to explore. Thank you for joining the rescue.
